Near Busch Stadium, just a few blocks from the river, adjoining the Amtrak station, where I arrived and departed in April.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blamming.wordpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/img_7542-copy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-265\" title=\"IMG_7542 copy\" src=\"http:\/\/blamming.wordpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/img_7542-copy.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>7545 \u2013 <strong>One dismantled touring bicycle, boxed by Bob, and more than a bit of camping gear.<\/strong> Nice job, Bob.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blamming.wordpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/img_7545-copy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-264\" title=\"IMG_7545 copy\" src=\"http:\/\/blamming.wordpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/img_7545-copy.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>7546 \u2013 <strong>Quite a lot of stuff to get back together,<\/strong> pumped up, packed and tightened down, ready to roll. I didn\u2019t time how long it took \u2026 maybe an hour and a half. <strong>\u00b6 <\/strong>This young fellow named Chris stopped, with a smile, to chat with me. \u201cNeed any help?\u201d He knew all about my Surly. Yeah, one hell of a bike. He was a construction worker, on his way out to a job in Colorado. Couldn\u2019t turn it down. It was work, after all. He\u2019d been a tour guide in Utah. More back country than what I do. Mountain bikes. I gave him my email but still haven\u2019t heard from him.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blamming.wordpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/img_7546-copy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-266\" title=\"IMG_7546 copy\" src=\"http:\/\/blamming.wordpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/img_7546-copy.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>7549 \u2013 <strong>Roadworthy, again.<\/strong> Almost dark now. Remember? We were late \u2026 got delayed leaving New York. Only way we could make up the time was by shortening our rest stops, which they did to some extent. We\u2019d been scheduled to arrive at 4:35, but I think it was closer to six. <strong>\u00b6<\/strong>Too bad. I was hoping to ride through Forest Park while it was still light. But after it got dark I stayed on the main streets \u2013 Olive to Lindell to Skinker to Clayton. And so on, taking streets I remembered from early childhood, even pausing to touch the tires of my LHT on the sod of 1141 North Drive, beneath a now magnificent tree that I can still remember my father planting sometime in the 1950s.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blamming.wordpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/img_7549-copy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-267\" title=\"IMG_7549 copy\" src=\"http:\/\/blamming.wordpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/img_7549-copy.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>7553 \u2013 <strong>Mom in her jammies, late at night.<\/strong> Saturday, September 3<sup>rd<\/sup>, 420 South Kirkwood Road, Kirkwood 63122 \u2013 same zip code I grew up under.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blamming.wordpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/img_7553.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-268\" title=\"IMG_7553\" src=\"http:\/\/blamming.wordpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/img_7553-e1318022536863.jpg?w=225\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>7554 \u2013 <strong>Mom on Sunday<\/strong>. Dressed and ready to go out to Tommy\u2019s. <strong>\u00b6 <\/strong>Everyone calls him Tom. Tom is correct. It\u2019s his name, and what he wants to be called. But he will always be Tommy to me. \u00b6 You can see Mom\u2019s eyes, but she can\u2019t see you. Not very well, anyway. Macular degeneration. She\u2019s about 80% blind, whatever that means. She\u2019s still got all her marbles, though.
